The Knowledge Argument is a philosophical argument for the existence of God. It was first proposed by Saint Anselm of Canterbury in the 11th century. The argument begins with the premise that God is the greatest conceivable being. From this premise, Anselm argues that God must exist, because if God did not exist, then it would be possible to conceive of a being greater than God, which is a contradiction.
