The Berar Sultanate was a short-lived independent Muslim kingdom in central India, which existed from 1490 to 1572. It was founded by Fathullah Imad-ul-Mulk, a former governor of Berar under the Bahmani Sultanate. The sultanate reached its peak under Alauddin Imad Shah, who expanded its territory and established diplomatic relations with other states in India.
