The Nicaraguan Revolution was a civil war in Nicaragua that lasted from 1978 to 1990. The war was fought between the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) and the US-backed Nicaraguan government. The FSLN was a left-wing revolutionary group that was opposed to the dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza Debayle. The war ended with the FSLN's victory and the establishment of a new government in Nicaragua.
