The Carvaka School of Perception, also known as Lokayata, is a materialistic and atheistic school of thought in Indian philosophy. It is one of the six orthodox schools of Indian philosophy and is associated with the philosopher Brihaspati. The Carvakas reject the authority of the Vedas and other religious texts, and instead rely on direct perception and logical reasoning as the means of acquiring knowledge.
