Samshaya, or doubt, is a fundamental concept in Vaisheshika philosophy. It is one of the three main epistemological categories, along with perception and inference. Samshaya is defined as a state of indecision or uncertainty about the truth or falsity of a proposition. It is a temporary state of mind that arises when the evidence for and against a proposition is equally balanced.
