The Simon Commission of 1928 was a British commission established to investigate the political situation in India and to make recommendations for constitutional reform. The commission was headed by Sir John Simon, and its members included seven British MPs and two Indian members. The commission's report, published in 1930, recommended a number of changes to the Indian constitution, including the introduction of provincial autonomy and the expansion of the franchise. The report was rejected by the Indian National Congress, which saw it as a betrayal of Indian aspirations for self-government.
