The Gateway of India is a monument in Mumbai, India. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to India in 1911. The Gateway is a large, basalt-faced archway with four turrets. It is located at the southern tip of the city, on the edge of the Arabian Sea. The Gateway is a popular tourist destination and a symbol of Mumbai.
