The first legislation regarding tobacco in India was the Cigarettes (Regulation of Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 1975, which mandated specific statutory health warnings on cigarette packs in 1975. The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003, abbreviated to COTPA, received assent from the President on 18 May 2003.

Suburban rail, urban rail, commuter rail, or regional rail, plays a major role in the public transport system of many of India's major cities. Suburban rail is defined as a rail service between a central business district and suburbs, a conurbation or other locations that draw large numbers of people on a daily basis. The trains providing such services may be termed suburban trains. Trains on the Mumbai Suburban Railway, Chennai Suburban Railway, Kolkata Suburban Railway and Hyderabad MMTS are referred to as local trains or locals. Kolkata Suburban Railway is the second oldest after Mumbai Suburban Railway and has the largest network in the entire country. They are limited only to a few number of cities 

The Mumbai Suburban Railway, popularly referred to as Locals forms the backbone of the city's transport system. It is operated by the Central Railway and Western Railway zones of the Indian Railways. Mumbai's suburban rail systems carried a total of 7.5 million passengers every day in 2007. Trains are overcrowded during peak hours, with nine-car trains of rated capacity 1,700 passengers, actually carrying around 4,500 passengers at peak hours. The Mumbai rail network is spread at an expanse of 319 route kilometers. 191 rakes (train-sets) of 9 car and 12 car composition are utilized to run a total of 2,226 train services in the city. 

The smoke coming out from the industries contains both chemicals and paricles. It has small particles of dust, carbon, metals, other solids and radioactive materials. All these mix with the air and pollute it. These are also responsible for acid rain.

Chemical companies are responsible for all the three types of pollution. The smoke released from these companies pollutes the air, also they release their waste in water and thereby pollute the water and the waste they dug up in ground pollutes the soil and makes it barren causing soil pollution.

With increase in the industries the pollution is also increasing to a great extend. More the industries , more is the smoke with dust particles is released in air and water and more is the pollution. Also global warming increases as the trees are cut down for the industrial place to develop.

• Electronic waste" or "E-Waste" may be defined as discarded computers, office electronic equipment, entertainment device electronics, mobile phones, television sets, and refrigerators.
  
•  This includes used electronics which are destined for reuse, resale, salvage, recycling, or disposal.
  
• E-Waste includes almost any household or business item containing circuitry or electrical components with either power or battery supply. 
  
• Many of these products can be reused, refurnished, or recycled.
  

The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 an Act of the Parliament of India to control and prevent air pollution in India. It was amended in 1987.

One way to help reduce global warming, let alone air pollution, is to stop using your personal vehicle. If people walk or ride a bicycle for short trips, or take public transportation for longer ones, they can significantly reduce the amount of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions they generate each day.
